Load Bearing Bone Grafting and Coatings

Reference:                            STRAT 1116

Capital Required:              $1,000,000

Stage of Development:     Animal Trials

The Company is a leading edge biotechnology company that has developed an innovative platform of technologies for the production of unique synthetic bone graft material with superior load-bearing and bio-activity characteristics. The platform incorporates a material production process, a patented nano-technology derived coating solution and a application technology to create medical devices and bone filler products that substantially enhance surgical performance and patient outcomes.

Currently the gold standard for bone replacement procedures is the use of auto and allo-graft techniques incorporating patient, donor or animal bone grafts. The Company’s bone graft material will eliminate the requirement for these bone graft sources hence substantially reducing patient healing time, reducing infection risk and allowing for increased surgical efficiency.

The company’s initial products include:

o    Bio-active Bone Graft Material

o    HaP Product Range

o    Nanocoatings for existing medical devices to increase bioactivity and provide a barrier against ionisation

Key benefits include:

o    Provides load bearing capability

o    Provides enhanced bio-activity

o    Surgical benefits: Reduce number of procedures, reduce surgical interventions, minimise recovery time

o    High adhesive characteristics of applied coating

The Company has completed extensive studies and mechanical property testing. The findings have been very positive. In March 2009 the Company will complete animal trials to validate the bio-activity and load bearing capability of its bone graft materials and bio-activity of its nanocoating technology. The Company is currently seeking to raise an additional $1,000,000 to commence a licensing program and first round animal studies  over the next 6-9 month for its bone grafting device and a drug delivery system. The company’s strong technical team is complimented with commercialisation expertise.

Health and Fitness Product

Reference:                            STRAT0801

Industry:                                Health and Fitness

Capital Required:                 $500,000

The business is a unique Fitness and Health Brand company with an anchor product currently selling in Rebel and AMART sports stores.  This personal exercise device has won international awards and is also being distributed by agents in South East Asia and the United Kingdom. The company gains considerable support from patent pending intellectual property and third party support with operating systems, sales and marketing support and training The product is currently being manufactured in China and generates gross margins of 75%. Ideally suited to sales through direct TV and Infomercials, the Company is currently exploring both overseas and international TV opportunities.  Retail sales will explode as a result of successful penetration using this medium and the company will look to leverage this awareness with up sell and cross sell sales Infomercials can generate.  This offer is for 20% of the ordinary shares in the USA company holding the exclusive rights to market and sell the company’s products in North America.  The funds will be used to produce a 6 part exercise DVD and production of both a local and US infomercial.  The end goal is to look for a 100% sale of the business to a multi national.

New Helmet Design

Reference:                            STRAT0802

Industry:                                Technology Licensing

Capital Required:                 $260,000

The company has produced a prototype of a full face, rear access, dual locking helmet system that has several advantages over and above the current state of the current full face helmet offerings.  The mechanics of the system are the subject of a patent application.

Whilst the helmet’s final design is subject to further development, the Company has a current COMET grant with the intention to arrive at a set of specifications that are adaptable to the many universal applications for which the helmet will be used.  For example, some sports will require more coverage of the user’s head, whilst others may not require as much cover (e.g. Motor Cycle riders would require a wider chin bar where as snow skiing or cycle riding would require lesser coverage due to weight and vision considerations). This offer is for 13% of the ordinary shares in the company.  The funds will be used to complete the activities under the COMET process and secure at least one global license with a manufacturer to take on board the technology and embed it into a current helmet manufacturing process.  The end goal is to look for a 100% sale of the technology to a multi national.

Global Stadium Seating

Reference:                            STRAT0803

Industry:                               Seating

Capital Required:                 $600,000

For the past 15 years the company’s principal has designed and developed products, strategic alliances and production systems for some of the largest multinational companies in the world .The Company was incorporated in 2001, and since 2006 , has been focusing on the design and manufacture of stadium seating for the world market.  The Company’s principal was the key designer for the main stadium seating at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and more recently, designed and developed a stadium seating system which was installed at a major UK football stadium.  The Company has invested heavily in expanding its product range and building a network of architectural specifiers in the Stadia Industry.  All Intellectual Property is owned by the Company for all its products and most of the tooling needed to contract manufacture the seats in China and Australia.  After 2 years of development, the increase in opportunity is primarily due to the launch of a new seat in July 2008 which provides greater systemisation of the stadium.  It also provides improved benefits for the end user and greater scope for international expansion. The Company has its own in-house design team, which provides a significant competitive advantage when comparing to other products available. The Company has several exciting commercial opportunities rolling out over next 6 months and is seeking additional funds of $600,000 to accelerate its ability to accept larger contracts on the international stage.

Electronics Test Instrument

Reference:                            STRAT0804

Industry:                                Electronics

Capital Required:                 $600,000

The Company is developing an Electronic Test Instrument, which is classified as being “combinational - synthetic”.  This means that multiple instruments are contained within the one box and supported with reconfigurable software. A good analogy of the technology development and its market impact is to consider the home audio market whereby “three-in-one” combinational HiFi systems have virtually eliminated the previous market for the separate components of Tuner, Cassette Deck and Turntable. This product development is available now because the innovator has drawn on both his specific experience/expertise and the advances in convergent technologies to provide a solution which was not previously achievable.  This situation offers venture partners the first mover advantage in a $4.5 Billion global market in which virtually all test equipment across the majority of disciplines will ultimately head in this “combinational - synthetic” direction, thereby generating significant returns on investment.  This instrument contains all of the test equipment (hardware and software), which a user would typically be expected to access in performing day-to-day test and measurement activities. The reconfigurable software provides additional pre-defined test capabilities which most users may never have considered developing before - all with incredible expansion possibilities to improve both productivity and research outcomes. The identified target market for this instrument is not limited to electronics engineers.  It includes the majority of technical people working in industries as diverse as mechanical engineering, software development, science, automotive, defence, communications, medical, environmental services and education. The Company owns a PCT patent application and is seeking equity of $600,000 for 25% of the company to complete the engineering and develop license opportunities with overseas partners. The intention is to control the operation from Australia while contract manufacturing in Asia, which will enable unit price to fall within most organisations or individuals discretionary budgets - currently US $2,500.  For further information contact Damian Chown damian. Non Toxic Weed Control Technology [RBS1]

Reference:                            STRAT 1113

Capital Required:                 $300,000

Stage of Development:       Expansion

The Company’s patented technology is a major step forward in the use of steam/hot water as a weed control method, providing an efficient non toxic weed control system. The technology delivers a commercially viable solution for Municipal Councils, viticulture and other broader acre horticultural applications.  Innovation in design has resulted in a system that can achieve operating parameters and efficiencies previously unattainable.   The units are sold with either a hand held applicator gun or as a tractor mounted machine with dual applicator booms capable of treating two sides of a vineyard row at once. The equipment delivers an effective kill rate at speeds of greater than 2-4km per hour subject to the terrain with no detriment to the soil structure. The equipments’ unique pressurizing nozzle and depressurising chamber enables the on-board heat exchanger to heat water to above 100C under pressure but deliver it to the weeds at atmospheric pressure, improving vegetation control. The Company has also integrated patented applicator heads with the unit to maximise coverage of target vegetation and intensify weed-killing thermal transference. The system is mobile and lightweight and requires minimal operator training.  The initial target market has been Municipal Councils due to increasing community pressure and recent changes to legislation encouraging Councils to adopt non-toxic weed control methods in built up areas, particularly in sensitive areas such as near schools and recreational areas. An injection of capital will allow the business to fast track expansion plans both locally and internationally.  For further information contact Lisa Nolan lisa.
